ECS is proud of the fantastic results we have produced for our clients. Some of that success is listed below.
Case #1 - $1,300,000 in cash recoveries
A 100+ bed hospital requested ECS to review their charge capture processes. ECS immediately identified opportunities in nearly all clinical departments. ECS provided education and operational support to correct root causes issues so that the hospital could immediately realize cash on current claims. At the same time ECS identified previously processed claims that could be refiled. Within 3 months over $2,000,000 in charges were rebilled resulting in $1,300,000 in additional cash for the hospital.
Case #2 - $1,000,000 in missed revenue recovered
Laboratory services is a common area where missed charging and coding opportunities can cost hospital hundreds of thousands of dollars. By performing our “Spot-Check” review ECS identified many opportunities and found over $1,000,000 in lost revenue.
Case #3 - Over $1,000,000 in total benefits realized
One of Nebraska’s finest Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) was experiencing problems with poor and untimely coding which increased DNFB and reduced cash. They also knew they were missing charges in multiple departments but were unable to determine the scope of the problems. They engaged ECS and we immediately identified issues with poor productivity and inefficient workflow in the coding operation and missed charges in the ED, Observation, Surgery, Wound Care and other clinical departments. We provided coders and were able to eliminate the backlog while making recommendations to improve documentation and operational workflows. Our success has led to a long term relationship and a sustained improvement in coding, charge capture and cash flow.
Case #4 - Nearly $1,000,000 in improved cardiac catheterization revenue
After reviewing the charge capture process, claims detail and other data ECS discovered that the provider was missing three charge codes that should have been coded and billed for on most cases. The total dollar amount for these three codes equaled $3,000 for each cardiac catheterization and based upon annual volume of over 300 cases, nearly $1,000,000 new revenue was realized.
